1. What is your number one reason for wanting to serve on the school board?
Bringing my talents and education to the school district where my daughter attends to help the district maintain excellence in education so that our community has bright and full-rounded citizens for future years.
2. What role does policy play/have in the function of the board?
The Board's function is to adopt policies that provide the school district direction and priorities to achieve its goals to accomplish its vision. The Board sets the policies and the Superintendent carries the policies out. These policies are very important to keep CCS a leader in excellence in education for all children not just knowledge, but emotional and social well-being.
3. What legislative action at the state level would you support to improve education in our community.
Mandate an increase in board members for a large and growing community.
4. What do you think is the biggest issue facing your district?
Currently, it would be how to get our children back in the classrooms in a healthy and safe manner as quickly as possible. Overall, to be transparent to parents and students on how and why decisions are made and not just communicate the decision. In addition, gather better information as a result of more open communication with the school community (adults and children).
5. If you were elected what one thing would you like to accomplish during your term?
The Board should be communicative and accountable to its community. I would like the CCS community (adults and children) to feel they have a voice and are being heard when it comes to the healthy education and curriculum of our future adults. We should be educating our children with all the facts and allow them to develop their own opinions. I want to be that voice!
