Whatever was needed at schools that my children attended. Room mom, photographer, gardener, PTA, coordinator for study abroad trips, PTO, Camp Tecumseh, Box Tops. I prefer to be a servant leader, serving in needed areas.
I have been on Superintendent Advisory, Facilities, Policy, Audit, Finance, Technology, Curriculum committees at Hamilton Southeastern Schools. I prefer tying together the details of each aspect of the district to provide the best education for students.
1. What is your number one reason for wanting to serve on the school board?
To make the tough nancial decisions needed in the current economic downturn.
2. What role does policy play/have in the function of the board?
The only two things a board is charged with doing is to hire/evaluate the superintendent and write policy. Our policies are to be consistent with the laws of Indiana because they provide our funding and dictate what must be done.
3. What legislative action at the state level would you support to improve education in our community.
The graduation pathways requiring a meaningful work, project or service experience is vital to the growth and development of our students. I am the HSE board representative for the Governors Workforce Development Taskforce and legislative liaison. I also participated in a yearlong leadership program with Senators Crane and Raatz, who chair the Indiana Education Committee.
4. What do you think is the biggest issue facing your district?
Academic declension of students from the last 7 months.
5. If you were elected what one thing would you like to accomplish during your term?
Get students back in school 100% .
