The schedule for the July 22nd event is:
Tent Village Setup Opens 9:00 a.m.
Race day registration & packet pickup 10:00 a.m.
Opening Ceremonies & Announcements 11:50 a.m.
Race Start 12:00 p.m.
Race End 8:00 p.m.
Awards Ceremony 8:30 p.m.
The 2016 top male, Joe Smoker of Indianapolis, ran 47.8 miles, equal to nearly two marathons, in eight hours. Lisa Pratt Ward of Haiti was the top female and ran 42.74 miles.
“This is a unique event,” said race director Todd Oliver. “The runners push their bodies for eight hours straight over the course to see how far they can go. It is great to watch them compete against themselves.” Spectators are welcome to view the race. The course is open during the event for other runners and walkers.
About the 8-Hour Dream Endurance Race:
The 8-Hour Dream Endurance Race is the only endurance race in Indiana and the only RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) state championship event in Indiana. The race utilizes a 3.11 mile “long course” and an abbreviated 1.89 mile “short course”. All finishers receive a medal. Registration is limited to a maximum of 250 individuals and 100 teams.
