Of these category winners, one well-deserving nurse will be chosen as the 2016 Nurse of the Year. In addition, one honored nursing student receives a $3,000 scholarship. All major hospital networks, medical facilities, retirement homes and nursing schools are asked to participate in recognizing this growing and honored list of some of the area’s finest healthcare professionals.
This year’s awards ceremony features Ms. Tanae Howard, news anchor and health reporter from FOX59, as Emcee. Also, Mrs. Kaye Lani Rae Rafko-Wilson, the 61st Miss America winner from 1988, will be the keynote speaker. She holds the distinction of being the very first Registered Nurse to become Miss America. The event, by invitation only, will be held at The Crane Bay in Indianapolis on Wednesday, April 27th, with highlights and details about the winners to be published in the Indianapolis Star in a special section on May 8th.
